Your dining room

The table where someone dines against the wall.

A table is chosen by the space left around it, not by the top.

Is this you?

3 dinners we know well.

  1. 01

    The chair against the wall

For someone to stand up, the person behind has to squeeze in. The 90 cm walkway is missing.

  2. 02

    The end seat nobody uses

The table leg is in the corner. The chair will not go in, and the table for 8 seats 6.

  3. 03

The drawer that will not open at dinner

The sideboard ended up 60 cm from the table. With the chairs taken, the cutlery stays inside.

It isn't the table.
It's the space left around it.

A dining room is solved in centimetres. 4 measurements decide whether the table seats everyone the house welcomes, and almost nobody takes them before choosing.

When the table comes first and the measurement after, the chairs have to adjust to the table. It should be the other way round.

The cause

4 measurements decide before the table.

Aparador Mesa 180 90 100 60 75 do tampo
Plan of a dining room with a 180 cm table for 6 and a sideboard. Measurements in cm.
  1. 60 cm

    Of tabletop per person

Room for a plate, a glass and elbows. A 180 cm table seats 6 comfortably. A 220 cm table seats 8. A 150 cm round table seats 6.

  2. 90 cm

Between the table and the wall

75 cm to pull the chair back, the other 15 for someone to pass behind without asking. It is the measurement most often missing.

  3. 75 cm

Between the tabletop and the lamp

Higher and it dazzles whoever sits opposite. Lower and it blocks the conversation. Measure from the tabletop, never from the floor.

  4. 1 m

Between the table and the sideboard

With the chairs taken, it is what lets you open a drawer without asking anyone to stand up.

IMPERIUM table

Pistacho design · Bárbara Dias

Designed to seat what the top promises.

A table with a leg at each corner blocks the seats at the ends. On ours, the base is set back from the corner. Ipanema stands on 2 curved legs. Imperium on 2 round slatted bases. Belle on a cross-shaped metal frame. Riviera leaves 1.40 m clear between its legs.

The size can be adjusted on request: customisation is quoted separately and, because it is made for your room, cannot be returned.

  • Designed by Bárbara Dias, architect.
  • Made in our own workshop, in Portugal.
  • Price and delivery date on the product page.
  • Free delivery and assembly in mainland Portugal.
  • 3-year warranty. Free returns within 14 days.

Materials

Your top, your finish.

Chamfered tops, in natural wood veneer or lacquered, with a stone option on the tables that call for it. 8 top finishes. Metal details lacquered in black or matt gold.

In the sideboards, storage has no visible handles. Push-to-open, soft-close runners, velvet-lined interiors. The Arc has a central wine rack. The Tone has LED lighting underneath.

A sideboard that does not need to announce itself.

Before you decide

How many people can sit?

Allow 60 cm of tabletop per person. A 180 cm table seats 6 comfortably and 8 at a squeeze. A 220 cm table seats 8. A 150 cm round table seats 6. On our tables the base is set back from the corner, so they seat what the top promises, with no seats lost at the ends.

What table length does my room need?

Measure the length of the room and subtract 1.80 m, 90 cm on each side to pull the chair back and pass behind. What remains is the maximum length of the top. If there is a sideboard, allow 1 m between the two.

Before the table goes into production, we confirm the measurements of the room and the entrance with you.

When does it arrive?

Each piece of furniture is made after you order. Dining tables, 3 weeks. Sideboards, 4 weeks. Then 1 more week for delivery and assembly.

Lamps are ordered from the manufacturer: 2 to 4 weeks, plus 1 week for shipping. The estimated delivery date for each piece is on its product page.

How much are delivery and assembly?

Nothing: delivery and assembly of furniture are free in mainland Portugal. Our own team brings the table and leaves it assembled in place. The islands are quoted on request.

Lamps are shipped directly from the manufacturer, and the shipping charges appear in the basket before you pay.

What if it does not suit the room?

For furniture, free returns within 14 days, no questions asked. The exception is a customised piece, for example in a different size: it is made for your room and cannot be returned.

For lamps, you have 14 days to return them, with return shipping paid by the customer.

What warranty does it have?

3-year legal warranty. If you notice any defect, write to help@pistachodecor.com with a description and photographs.

What are the pieces made of?

Chamfered tops, in natural wood veneer in oak, walnut or smoked eucalyptus, or lacquered, with a stone top option. Bases in wood or in lacquered metal. Sideboards with veneered or lacquered bodies, push-to-open or recessed handles, soft-close runners and velvet-lined interiors. All made in our own joinery.

Can I have a stone top?

Yes, on the tables that allow it. Stone is heavier and needs a base to match, so the option is not available on every piece. Tell us the size of the room and we will tell you what is possible.

Can I talk to someone first?

On +351 924 108 660, by phone or WhatsApp. Send a photograph of the room and the length of the wall, and we will tell you which table makes sense.

The table is the piece a home uses most.

Start with the measurement. Then the top. Because a table is not bought for the evenings you dine alone.
