Our Story

Pistacho was born from the desire to create spaces that go beyond aesthetics. Homes that make sense in real life, in the habits and the unique way each person lives their everyday.
Where it all began

In 2019, pregnant with Mateus, I began painting illustrations in coloured pencil to decorate his bedroom. The illustrations started to attract a great deal of attention and praise from the guests I brought home, and it was then that, encouraged by my husband Luís, I created Pistacho in 2020.

With the growing demand for illustrations, after 3 months I decided to dedicate myself full-time to this project. In the meantime, in addition to sharing illustrations, I also started sharing tips, suggestions and inspiration images related to my area of expertise — architecture — which in turn led to the first requests for interior design projects.
Initially, the projects I undertook were mostly designed for nurseries and children's rooms. Over time, as the work gained recognition, full interior design and architecture projects began to emerge. In the early days, I set up a small studio in my home annexe. Today, we have an atelier in Coimbra and work with essential partners in the execution of our projects, including carpentry, upholstery and joinery specialists who help us create bespoke furniture.
The birth of Pistacho

Creating Pistacho was the realisation of a dream. It is incredible to wake up every day to do something I truly love — creating, drawing, and designing. My life's work is helping people have their dream home.
I believe that interior architecture is essential to our wellbeing and that the way we live in spaces directly influences our lives and the relationships we build at home. I also believe that every home is unique and that the people who live in it transform it. Every space should be designed around the needs, habits, and goals of those who inhabit it.

The founder

Bárbara Dias

Master's in Architecture from the University School of Arts of Coimbra, 2009. CEO of Pistacho decor 2020. A strong, visionary, unstoppable woman. "Coffee is life" and her phone is an extension of herself.

Always passionate about drawing and creativity, it was in 2019 that I began to shape a very personal project that would go on to become Pistacho. Today, I lead a studio in Coimbra with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to creating spaces with identity, designed down to the last detail and adapted to each client's real life.
